Dear Parent/Guardian,
This notice is to inform you about how your student may be transported for school-related activities. In accordance with Senate Bill No. 88 (SB 88), a school employee (such as a coach, teacher, or staff member) of the Lemoore Union High School District may provide transportation to students in the district’s passenger vans in connection with the supervision of field trips, extracurricular activities, athletic programs, or other school-related events.
Our school district is committed to ensuring the safe transportation of all students and makes every reasonable effort to assign drivers who meet all requirements outlined in state regulations.
Please note that this notice does not apply to school bus drivers or school buses. School buses fall under a separate category of transportation and are highly regulated by the California Department of Education, the Department of Motor Vehicles, and the California Highway Patrol. These agencies enforce stringent safety standards and requirements specific to school buses.
However, there may be instances when, despite our best efforts, we are unable to secure a driver who meets every outlined requirement. In such cases, your student may be transported by a school employee (such as a teacher, coach, or staff member) who may, under certain circumstances, exceed the 40-hour annual drive time limit for school-related transportation.
Please be assured that the safety of our students remains our highest priority. All drivers will follow district policies and procedures related to safe driving practices.
By allowing your student to participate in field trips, extracurricular activities, athletic programs, or other school-sponsored events that require transportation in a district vehicle (car or van), you acknowledge that transportation may, at times, be provided by a school employee under the circumstances described above.
Sincerely,
Willie Moultry
Director of Transportation
Lemoore Union High School District
